M.E.A. Tec Enhances Quality and Efficiency with Arcadia Galileo Incoming System

M.E.A. Tec Inc., a family-owned electronic contract manufacturer based in Montreal, Canada, has built its reputation on craftsmanship, quality, and highly personalized service. Since 1995, the company has provided a complete range of EMS solutions, from PCB prototyping and programming to turnkey system assembly, mechanical builds, cable harness production, and functional PCB testing. Whether delivering consignment builds or full turnkey projects, M.E.A. Tec focuses on long-term partnerships, precise execution, and adaptability to meet the unique needs of its diverse customer base. While attending the IPC APEX Expo, COO Matthew Soosaipillai discovered a technology that would help further strengthen M.E.A. Tec’s incoming inspection process: the Arcadia Galileo Incoming System. Previously, verifying incoming parts was a manual process, with operators visually confirming long alphanumeric codes. While the team had never experienced an error, the potential for human oversight was always present. The Galileo system removes that risk by scanning and decoding reels automatically, eliminating room for human error and ensuring incorrect parts never reach the shop floor. The integration process was both smooth and collaborative. Arcadia’s developers worked closely with M.E.A. Tec to link the system with their X-ray counters for accurate inventory tracking, and to push part-number data from their PLM system directly to Galileo. The Unique Identifiers for the reels and their corresponding information (quantity, lot code) are pushed from Galileo to their pick-and-place machines allowing M.E.A. Tec to provide component level traceability. Custom interfaces were developed quickly, demonstrating Arcadia’s technical expertise and responsiveness. This new workflow means potential part discrepancies are flagged in the stockroom before production begins, reducing line stoppages and increasing throughput—an especially valuable improvement given the company’s mix of consignment and turnkey projects, where customer-supplied parts and varying documentation can present challenges. “Implementing the Galileo has completely transformed our incoming inspection process,” commented Soosaipillai. “What used to be a manual, error-prone step is now fully automated, with real-time verification and data transfer to our production lines. The system catches potential issues before they ever reach the floor, and the integration support from Arcadia and Kubler US was seamless. It’s been a huge win for both efficiency and quality.” M.E.A. Tec acquired the Galileo system through Kubler US Corp., the exclusive North American distributor for Arcadia. Led by CEO Boris Kubler, Kubler US has earned a reputation for bringing high-performance European manufacturing solutions to North America, backed by attentive, responsive support. Soosaipillai rated the experience a perfect 10, noting that issues were resolved within a day despite time zone differences, and praising the team’s flexibility and technical knowledge. Looking ahead, M.E.A. Tec plans to leverage Arcadia’s newly released OCR scanning capability, which allows the system to read and interpret labels without barcodes—automatically generating internal part numbers for smoother material handling. The decision to choose Arcadia over competing solutions was reinforced not only by its capabilities and ease of integration but also by its more attractive price point compared to other offerings in the market. By combining advanced automation with attentive supplier collaboration, M.E.A. Tec continues to reinforce its commitment to precision, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. The addition of the Arcadia Galileo Incoming System, supported by Kubler US, is a strategic investment that strengthens their position as a trusted, forward-thinking partner in electronics manufacturing.
