Interview with Amanda Smeltz – Vice President of Commercial Growth & Strategy at CE3S

We recently spoke with Amanda Smeltz, who has been promoted to Vice President of Commercial Growth & Strategy, to learn more about her new role and how it will further strengthen CE3S.

Amanda, congratulations on your promotion. For readers who may not yet be familiar with your background, can you share your journey at CE3S and what led to your promotion to Vice President of Commercial Growth & Strategy?

When I joined CE3S in 2023, the company was looking to further strengthen data-driven decision-making and customer success processes. I was immediately drawn to the family-owned culture, strong reputation throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Florida regions, and clear commitment to doing the right thing for customers, employees, and the business.

From the outside looking in, it was evident that CE3S had earned deep trust within the industry through transparency, responsiveness, and a customer-first mindset. The opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of such a respected organization was exciting.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work across marketing strategy, go-to-market initiatives, customer engagement, and partner development. Since joining CE3S, I’ve been fortunate to collaborate closely with our internal team, vendor partners, rep groups, and customers to help expand our brand presence, strengthen strategic relationships, and support the company’s continued growth.

 I’m grateful for the trust and confidence our team has placed in me. This promotion to Vice President of Commercial Growth & Strategy reflects both the momentum we’ve built together and CE3S’s continued investment in long-term growth and innovation.

How does the creation and expansion of this leadership role reflect CE3S’s long-term vision for growth within the electronics manufacturing and supply chain sectors?

CE3S has always taken pride in being more than just a distributor. We strive to be a true strategic sourcing and solutions partner for our customers. By combining our supply chain expertise with our professional solutions offerings, we’re able to help customers address complex challenges related to procurement, consumables, operational support, and overall supply chain efficiency.

The creation and expansion of this leadership role reflects CE3S’s long-term commitment to sustainable growth, deeper customer engagement, and continued investment in strategic partnerships. As the electronics manufacturing and supply chain industries continue to evolve, our focus is on strengthening our product and service offerings, expanding solution-based opportunities, and ensuring we remain a trusted resource for both our customers and vendor partners.

In your new position, what are your top priorities when it comes to strengthening customer relationships and delivering greater strategic value to OEMs and EMS providers?

One of my top priorities in this role is continuing to strengthen CE3S’s position as a strategic partner to both OEM and EMS organizations by fostering strong customer relationships through our on-site support and sales teams while maintaining a comprehensive understanding of customer operational and supply chain goals.

We want our customers to view CE3S as an extension of their team, providing responsive support, trusted guidance, and long-term value as their needs continue to evolve.

From a solutions perspective, we’re focused on expanding the value we provide across key areas such as ESD and cleanroom products, production consumables, tools and instrumentation, inventory management solutions, and broader supply chain support programs. By continuing to strengthen collaboration with our vendor partners and internal teams, we’re able to deliver solution-based opportunities that help customers improve efficiency, reduce risk, and support long-term operational success.

The electronics manufacturing industry continues to face evolving supply chain and sourcing challenges. How will your leadership help position Cumberland Electronics Strategic Supply Solutions as a stronger partner for customers navigating today’s market conditions?

 Today’s supply chain and sourcing professionals have more on their plate than ever, often performing the work of multiple roles at once. CE3S is well-positioned to help alleviate some of that pressure by serving as a trusted strategic sourcing and solutions partner across a range of needs, from everyday production consumables to workstations, soldering and rework equipment, hand tools, inspection devices, and more. With decades of experience and strong vendor relationships, our team is often able to quickly source products or identify acceptable alternatives to keep operations moving. A key focus of my role is making sure more customers who are feeling that strain know CE3S is here to support them with responsive, reliable solutions.

Commercial growth today often requires a balance of innovation, agility, and operational excellence. How do you plan to align sales strategy, customer engagement, and internal collaboration to support CE3S’ continued expansion?

My approach is to ensure our sales strategy, customer engagement, and internal collaboration are tightly aligned around a shared understanding of customer needs and market dynamics. That starts with listening closely to our customers and leveraging those insights to shape how we go to market, while also ensuring our team is equipped with the right tools, data, and support to respond quickly and effectively. Just as importantly, I want to continue strengthening collaboration across sales, operations, and our vendor partners so we can move as one unified team. By connecting these areas more intentionally, we can create a more seamless customer experience, identify new growth opportunities faster, and support CE3S’ continued expansion in a sustainable and strategic way.

As Vice President of Commercial Growth & Strategy, how will you help strengthen the company’s competitive position while maintaining the customer-focused culture CE3S is known for?

As Vice President of Commercial Growth & Strategy, one of my primary goals is to continue strengthening CE3S’s competitive position by building on the foundation that has already made the company successful; strong relationships, responsiveness, and a genuine commitment to customer success. As we continue to grow, it’s important that we maintain the high level of service, responsiveness, and expertise that customers have come to expect from CE3S. I also believe maintaining a customer-focused culture starts internally by ensuring our teams stay connected, collaborative, and aligned around doing what is best for the customer. By continuing to invest in our people, partnerships, and operational capabilities, we can support long-term growth while preserving the culture and trust CE3S is known for.

Are there any new initiatives, markets, or strategic opportunities you are especially excited to pursue in this role that could further enhance the company’s capabilities and industry presence?

 One not-so-secret aspect of CE3S is that our team is always working behind the scenes on new partnerships, expanded offerings, and innovative solutions to better support our customers. In my new role, I’m especially excited about continuing to grow our solution-based approach. While many customers know us as a trusted resource for everyday operational needs, not everyone realizes we can also help design and deliver complete customized solutions. Recently, for example, we partnered with an aerospace company to develop mobile ESD workstations for their repair hangars, including everything from the workstation itself to ionization, ESD mats, and specialized PCB holders. Opportunities like that allow us to combine our technical expertise, vendor partnerships, and customer-focused mindset to deliver meaningful value. Continuing to expand those types of solution-driven projects is an exciting opportunity to further strengthen both our capabilities and our industry presence.

Looking ahead, what does success look like for both you and Cumberland Electronics Strategic Supply Solutions over the next few years, and how do you hope your promotion will contribute to the company’s continued momentum and growth?

Looking ahead, success for both myself and CE3S means continuing to build sustainable growth while maintaining the customer-focused culture and strong industry relationships that have defined the company for years. I’d like to see us continue expanding our strategic partnerships, growing our solution-based offerings, and further integrating ourselves into our customers’ processes as a trusted partner that grows alongside them. As OEM and EMS organizations continue navigating increasingly complex operational and supply chain challenges, our goal is to remain a responsive, adaptable resource that consistently delivers real value and earns long-term trust.

Personally, I hope this promotion allows me to further support our team by aligning strategy, customer engagement, and collaboration in a way that helps accelerate CE3S’s momentum while preserving the culture and principles that make the organization unique. We have an incredibly strong foundation, and I’m excited to help contribute to the company’s next phase of growth and innovation.
